I praise God everyday for his amazing works, for the things I see and not see. I know I should only trust him even when things doesn’t make sense. In the story of Lazarus in the book of John, Mary told Jesus that his brother was sick. Coming to Jesus for me means seeking for our intercessor. In the story, Jesus responded (John 11:4, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.) What an amazing response from Jesus! My son’s Autism and ADHD when diagnosed, I was told that it is not a sickness that may have a cure, but a condition, that can be corrected through a therapy. Sickness and cure, condition and therapy, What does it mean? (John 11: 20-22, So when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went and met him, but Mary remained seated in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.”) I have heard of Jesus ever since I was born, I knew he is always there. But at times, as we are powerful as we are instructed by our minds, or as we powerfully instruct our minds, we confused situations in our lives, and we allow doubts to arise through science and the logic that was made up in this world. (John 11:14, Then Jesus told them plainly, “Lazarus has died) Autism is a lifetime condition, it had brought me pain when I first heard of it, told that it is a condition without cure, and is to remain forever. It killed my spirit. But then, I learned that many condition of this world can bring forever pain and death to anyone who limits themselves beyond the possibilities of this world. I cried, first time I heard of such, that I will have to deal with it forever, such I am presently doing and living by with. The event for the United Nation which my son was a part of, was so messy to see during rehearsals. Many times, I look at it and see no hope, even question why become part of such an event seeing the destructive behavior, such as, switching flags with the other participants, doing other movements not part of the dance, making funny faces, in short, playing while others are too focused at perfecting the event. I almost forgot that I am one assigned to keep with the event, to encourage the kids to follow accordingly. Whoosh! I am excited to see the event come to pass, let it be smooth, no disturbing scene. My spirit battling spirits. (John 11:15, and for your sake I am glad that I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.” ) Time struck to lead all the kids, with my son, to the stage. The performance is on! (John 11: 25-27, Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life.[d] Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”)
Oh Jesus! I believe in you! Let your goodness manifest in this performance.
(John 11: 32-37, Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled. And he said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus wept. So the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”)
The head teacher who leads in organizing this event encouraged me not to worry, for this is to be done to glorify God, and everything will go well. The words of encouragement is truly a powerful cure and tool for a weakening spirit. Ones in a while all of us will encounter fear, disappointments, frustrations, helplessness, sadness, this world is full of that. But yet, this world is created by God, and the holy spirit resides in us, so we can battle the disheartening spirit with the comforting spirit, source from God. It is only in Him that we can rest.
(John 11: 43-44, When he had said these things, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 The man who had died came out, his hands and feet bound with linen strips, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”)
Depression nowadays is all over the place, and has killed many people. For one who parent a child with Autism/ADHD, I can choose my spirit to kill me or I can choose the Holy Spirit to lift up the hidden beauty that lies in the condition that is upfront. I took the help that God has provided for me and allowed him to work on us. The stage performance went well and smooth as I prayed it would be. The event turned amazing and for the record, we did it! My son did it! He as well received his chance and opportunity that he can do it. God provided for him.
